Blogger Beauty Stash: Phil

Today I’m virtually raiding Phil’s bathroom. Phil is a beauty blogger from Belgium, who writes about skin care from a man’s perspective and his arsenal is enough to make any serious beauty blogger green with envy. He was very down to earth and kind enough to share his expertise on a lot of the beauty products he uses.

Phil started his blog in order to offer tips and tricks on how to maintain a healthy skin, after girls started asking him about his great skin. “Guys wanted info too, but not in public where everyone could hear them asking. Still to date guys just don’t like to leave comments but rather email me with their questions.” Phil says.

On the products Phil can’t live without
I love using AHA’s especially glycolic & lactic acid to keep blemishes at bay and improve skin texture. Alpha-H Liquid goldproducts are amazing. They’re currently my go to glycolic products because I love how you apply it as a toner on bare skin, and completely leave it at that. Sisley Express Flower Gel Mask  is another musthave for tired skin after going out. Just leave it on overnight on a freshly cleansed face. Sometimes I spray cold water on top of it but only when my skin feels hot.

I’ve repurchased Caudalie Vino Perfect serum three times already because it’s very light in texture, sinks in fast and leaves a nice finish. It was also the first product ever that gave me a glow you couldn’t wash off. Pai camellia & rose cleanser is one of those gentle cleansers. Another great cleanser I discovered not too long ago is Suki lemongrass exfoliating cleanser. It’s a scrubby cleanser that you add water to so you can make it very gritty or just a foam. La Roche Posay Effaclar K is a godsend for people with ingrowing hairs. It’s a gentle BHA product that exfoliates down into the pores and unclogs a lot. La Roche Posay Effaclar K is a godsend for people with ingrowing hairs. It’s a gentle BHA product that exfoliates down into the pores and unclogs a lot, I’ve bought over 6 tubes of this. And finally Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel; this serum –or dare I say all in one during spring/summer for combo/oily skin- is a must have for my routine. It’s expensive I know but you don’t get into my favorite list just by looking pretty or being expensive.

Beauty Inspiration:
There are certain celebrities that have amazing skin and that’s something I always look out for! I won’t mirror mysef to a girl anytime soon but I’m very much impressed by Michelle Pfeiffer, Diane Lane, Cate Blanchett, Liv Tyler, … I have a thing for people that know how to take care of their skin, but aren’t afraid to live & smile. Also I’m a big fan of not tanning at all, the paler the better. I take my pointers from my own mother most of all. She’s no beauty junkie like I am, but still has amazing skin for her age. Thanks for passing on the good genes too mom ;).

Skin Routine:
I do like to attackmy skin with exfoliants/acids/oils/new products but never forget that I also have minimal days where it’s just cleanse and moisturize. Everyone can benefit from a rest day and so can your skin. Nearly nothing beats proper diet & living either. In the morning I cleanse with Cetaphil but that’s finished recently so now I’m using Alpha-H balancing cleanser with Aloe which I Love it far. Caudalie vinosource serum for hydration or LRP effaclar K if my skin is acting up with blemishes/ingrown hairs. And I moisturize with Caudalie Vinosource Sorbet at the moment, which I got this to try out at an event so I must finish it first.

If he had $1000 to spend on products:
I love French skincare so it not hard to imagine that I would go berserk in Paris. Belgium doesn’t have a whole lot of great places to buy skincare sadly.  This might come as a shock but I would most likely buy backups of all my favorite products. Say $500 to stock up on current products and $500 on new things to try out. This ‘wishlist’ expands every single time I open my laptop.  The life of a beauty blogger 🙂

All pix were taken by Phil whose blog is just as cool. Check it out at here.
